I would start with bmxtrix...
start at the top of the list, and once you get a few off the top of the list, you can start to learn them out of order, and pick n choose which ones you want to learn...
I also highly recomend that matt wilhelm video ground rules...
http://www.danscomp.com/801329.php?cat=VIDEOS
IF your looking for a decent begginer flat bike.... check this out...
http://www.danscomp.com/101126.php?cat=BIKES
its cheap, the wheels likely would need replaced with something better, but its a good start...

and yes... I recommend dans comp... matt wilhelms sponsor... They also sell the hoffman frame he rides there too... One of the only frames on the market thats worth a damn.... The flatland part selections kinda small.... what what is there is decent... I would rather my money go there than a business that my money isn't any good at...
Look at my other thread on the economy and why I wont support other online retailers for a detailed explanation... and I'll only support dans until bmx companies start selling direct to the customers....

My first trick was either riding backwards or forkglide. I would recommend that you learn forkglide, because it leads in to sooo many other tricks.

Bunnyhops, rollbacks, 180 and 360 bunnyhops if you trust the wheels...

lawnmowers and fork stands are fun, too.

welcome to the site, its pretty slow here at the moment but I thought I would respond just in case it helps

best place is youtube.com as you can see the tricks and decide from there.
otherwise try bmxtrix.com as they used to have a good trictionary.

As for the bike, who cares.
As its all about enjoyment.

I'm a 32 y.o. dad with a 8 y.o. son. I recently bought him a couple of bikes on craigslist... one being a Mongoose KO something. It's actually a bit big for him... but fits me well.
I realize it is probably a pretty crappy bike, but I'll work with it for now.

I have been mildly entertaining my son, his friends, and myself with the dumbest of tricks...
- bouncing on rear pegs
- spinning handlebars while riding slowly
- pathetic endos

I'd like to slowly add tricks to my arsenal.

Does anyone know of a good site demonstrating step by step instructions for even the simplest of tricks?

Or can you suggest some tricks?

Thanks
