Matthew,
I have no idea where to start with this, the only way i can think of is to use some of your own wise words-"the universe is a mysterious place. it can appear cruel and careless and do things that are nonsensical to us...the universe can also be the most beautiful and wonderful place." i always knew you were right but i never imagined an act so heartless and cruel could ever occur, especially to someone so good, kind and wise as yourself.
You were correct on both accounts however, there is also beauty and wonder to be found, and its people like you that put it there. You've proved that above all else with your actions not only that night but each and everyday; the response received when the news broke goes a long way to show just how many people's lives you've touched and improved with your presence. Amongst them, hundreds of river people who want to be there to support you and boost you back up in whatever way necessary, just like you've done for us all these times-we are behind you 100% of the way with this and always will be.
For all that you have done and all you continue to do we are eternally grateful, so glad to hear things are hopefully on the up now.
