R.Belmont finally released source code for his M1 program, so I consequentially updated M1FX to allow you to play arcade game music in background with MAMEUIFX (Select "Listen game music with M1" in the File Menù or right-click on game menu).
You can grab the updated version here, the one included in 0.137 package is now buggy and outdated.
LINK REMOVED
Just extract the zip into your FX main directory and overwrite the files.
LATEST VERSION IS AVAILABLE IN THE LAST POST OF THIS THREAD

Updated again, riduced the size of the DLL and tweaked a bit the executable.

As always, extract the files into your FX directory and overwrite the files. This is the last update until a new version of M1 source will be available.

| Was you thinking of adding more games to M1? |

I'm not the maintainer of M1. If you want more games supported you should go to its forum and ask there. I simply grabbed the source code which has been recently released and compiled it. |

There is a limited amount of games that potentially can be added without adjusting or adding to the source. I look for them all the time and maintain the 'official' XML file to keep up with MAME changes.

Just remember the amount of games might seem low, but M1 doesn't support a clone of a game unless the sound roms are different or produce different or added sound as well as a couple hundred Genesis titles (from HazeMD 0.12 romlists) which, last I checked, were not included for play in MAMEUIFX. |

Meh, too bad M1 is slow to load and always has a bunch of sound effects between the actual music.
Would be cool if there's an option that it selects a random rom and a random music track each time you start MAMEUIFX. |

| In 0.140 FX package you'll find an updated version of the m1.xml file list with all the fixes/additions made by Tafoid during these months. The executable is still the same, no time at the moment to modify/improve it. |

I released a new version of M1FX which will be included in the next 0.144 MAMEUIFX release.
Improvements:
- system tray icon to minimize/maximize the window with a mouse double-click
- minimize to tray icon the main M1FX window if the minimize button is pressed.
- no more needs of M1.INI file, now the rompath will be always the default \ROMS\ folder. I deprecate in MAME/MAMEUI/MAMEUIFX the usage of multiple ROMS folder.
Here's source code for who wants to have a look and maybe improve with some good ideas. You need official MAME MinGW compiler environment installed.

NOTE: You always need the M1.DLL and M1.XML files which are distributed in MAMEUIFX package. If you compile this version and use with an old version of FX, you need to rename M1FX.EXE to M1.EXE. I already changed my FX source to call in the next version the M1FX.EXE.

No because M1 core doesn't support 7z... and likely it will never does. |

Too bad, I'm always pointing M1 directory to mame roms. Now I have all roms in 7z so I'm forced to rebuild all M1 roms again to zip |

sincerely I don't understand why a lot of people are converting their romset to 7z format... it's useless because the space you gain is too few... and MAME will always support old ZIP format to mantain compatibility with old versions... 7z has been introduced only to support some MESS dumps that are stimated to be over 2 Giga in size... Happy living... |
