Hi mamesick,
I saw in MAMEUIFX that you wrote a small GUI for the M1 arcade sound emulator by R. Belmont.
Thanks a lot for creating a GUI for this sound emulator!
I see in your GUI it uses version 0.7.9a1. But if I look on M1's home page there is only version 0.7.8a5.
So now my question is: where did you download version 0.7.9a1 of M1 to make your small GUI?
I also have another question about M1.xml. Will you update this file in MAMEUIFX also or do we have to update that file ourselves by downloading the latest version from M1's home page and copying it to MAMEUIFX's directory?
thx |

The link above is the latest M1 source code available. You're supposed to know how to compile it by yourself... Though there are not too much differences and/or improvements from the official compiled version that you can find at M1 homepage.
M1.XML will be updated in every release of MAMEUIFX. There's no need to update by yourself.
If you have in mind some improvements for my small GUI called M1FX, look at the correspondent thread in this forum, grab the source code and have a look. It will build fine with latest official MAME compiler available at MAMEDEV.ORG |

Hi,
I'm not a programmer myself
I maybe have some ideas for your GUI:
- What about making a list of all songs available in a game instead of pressing "next" button all the time to play another song?
In this way the user can switch faster to a song he choses.
Is this possible to implement or maybe impossible because of M1's implementation?
- adding a "stop" button that brings you back to the first song of the game
- adding some info about the current sound chip that's been emulated by M1, for example just the sound chip's name.
It are just ideas, just tell me if you want to implement them/like them.
I can't help programming because I'm not a programmer, sorry
I also was wondering if the "please wait, initializing" message in your GUI can be made faster? Or maybe it's just M1's code that's initializing and it has nothing to do with your GUI?

Yep, infos about chip and the "STOP" button could be implemented quite easily but sincerely I have no time to enter in the "programmer" mental status at the moment
And yes, the long startup lag is caused by M1 core which is really slow. |
