Im trying to find an option that will increase CPU priority for MAMEUIFX.
Ive noticed that some console emulators (Kega Fusion etc.) have a checkbox that allow the emulator to have maximum CPU priority, over other applications etc.
Is this option available in MAMEUIFX?
I ask because my anti-virus (AVG 2012) is a power-hungry little swine and cant be switched off.... Sucking all my CPU power like a vampire!!! |

| I think you should try to increase the "thread priority" in Miscellaneous options... Never tried by myself but I think it should be what are you looking for. Let us know, please, because maybe others could be interested. |

UPDATE:
I had some free time tonight so had a play with the settings on MAMEUIFX 0.137 and MAME 0.137 command-line version.
Increased the thread priority from 0 to 1 and noticed around a 10% improvement (Got Raiden Fighters Jet to run at 95-100% speed instead of 80-85% with no frame skip).
Something is periodically diverting CPU power away from the emulator, but when i look at task manager nothing else is running ... It just says that around 80-85% is being used by MAME when its running?
Ive de-fragged my PC and tried optimising it .... So the only thing i can think of is that AVG2012 is kicking-in and doing something periodically?
My PC specs are:
Pentium 4,
1.8GHz CPU (overclocked to 2.3GHz)
2GB RAM
512mb stock graphics card. |
