Ok so it’s my turn to possibly create an argument, but what does everyone else think about the current situation of football were currently in?
From my point of view we are sloppy (obvious from recent results) and lacking a bit of drive. When we take the lead we look ok, but then it seems to go to pot! The main thing that gets me is we seem to have very little options on the bench etc.. Ok so we’ve had injury problems, and still have but surely we could have some variation on the bench to try and turn things around if needed.
Interestingly it’s in the news update this week that two young Matlock lads have had good games in Derbyshire county side, any harm in giving them a go again??
As also reported our season could go either way, were not a million miles away from the playoffs and as yet this season I’ve not seen anyone who we couldn’t beat, however on occasions we’ve failed to kill them off! The other side to it is if we keep playing and dropping unnecessary points it going to be a mid table finish at best!
Lets hope things start to turn around, starting this Saturday against Gateshead, a game we really should win!
Thoughts anyone?

26 goals conceded in the last 12 games may give some indication of where our problems lie. I believe we need to freshen the squad up a bit but of course finance is the issue, with only 181 through the gate for the last home game it's going to be. If you going to get someone in, someones got to go.
The long term injuries to Rocky and Hoppo have hit us hard and they've not really been replaced.
I too would like to see Kyle Johnson and Nic Baker given another go - the League Cup Second Round losers Cup would be as good a time as any. |

Agree with both Phil and The Equaliser.
I certainly think that we need to add some new faces to the squad.I see that Eastwood have just signed two young players on loan from Grimsby Town.I think this is a way we should perhaps go, in getting some youngsters on loan from league clubs who are not breaking into the first team.
So far this season we've been far to inconsistant.Winning three then going four games without a win isn't going to get us in the play offs.On are day we can be the best team in the league but the next game we can play like the worst team in the league. We totally outplayed Whitby at the Lane when we won 4-1 then the next home game we get thumped 4-0.
We have games coming up against Gateshead, Ilkeston and Leek.We should be looking at getting maximum points from these games.
There is certainly nobody to fear in this league and I think if we can get a couple of new faces in and get a run going we can push for those play offs. |
