Hi gra, Phil, jay and mark. I've not posted for ages because I've not been down due to a number of reasons. Over the last couple of weeks I've picked up that something's not been right. I can't believe someone sent this to you. I completely understand your reaction. The time, effort and hard work you guys have put in over the years has been phenomenal. I'm sure that no genuine mtfc fan agrees with those comments.
I hope this doesn't ruin your support / enjoyment of mtfc.
Hopefully see you guys down at the lane at some point in the future. Keep your heads up and don't let the bastards grind you down! _________________ "If God had wanted us to play football in the clouds, he'd have put grass up there." The Legend that was Old Big 'Ead |

also not many people can say this but when i was in dri with health problems. the first couple of people to see me wasn`t ilkeston fans they were matlock fans
to whoever has wrote this letter. a big well done to ripping a big hole in your club because you will not get any better fans than the guys above.

A sad day indeed.
This idiot is not only having a go at the people mentioned, but at me as the Chairman, then and now of the Supporters / Social Club, all Committee members who have been with us over the years including Alan, John and Alex, Vicky, Sally, and also all of those people, who without their support and backing, there's far too many to mention individually but they know who they are, we would not have managed to turn a clubhouse hardly contributing anything to the parent club, into a going concern.
It's also an insult to those people now running our wonderful new facilities.
What a jealous, small minded excuse for a human being we have here.
As Chairman I'll thank Graham for his outstanding contribution, I have sent him an e mail of thanks and will no doubt talk to him once he's had time to gather his thoughts.
I'll look forward to this individual sending me a letter, he'll get told where to stick it, right up his a**e, if he has the guts to identify himself. |

Odd one this. I would personally have a chat with the local Constabulary about this letter to ensure this ends now.

Good on you. Time with your children when they are young is priceless. It is something you can never regain when it is gone. Also they grow into ten year olds who think it is not cool to talk to Dad but like your money.

What the hell!!!!!!!!!
As i have not been a supporter for long I cant comment on the people this letter is aimed at.
I am not sure if I have met the people this is aimed at or not. But either way, anybody who volunteers time and money to the club should be treated with the upmost respect. Without these people Clubs like mtfc would not function.
Why does this person not stand infront of the people in question and express the opinions refered to in his/her letter, and do it at the club house on match day, when judging by the response on here they may be standing alone feeling rather stupid and alienated.
Be strong, get your head up and get back to where your heart took you in the first place, and dont let anybody in life change your direction. |

From an occasional contributor, but I feel I have to comment as this is a shameful episode.
I have attended MTFC matches on and off for 38 years including a period of 30 years when I lived away from the area, and it remains a wonderful and well run club. Some buffoon has written this rubbish and should not be allowed to rip the heart out of the club in this way.
Anyone involved in the running and administration of the club should be proud of their achievements. The person who wrote the letter is clearly deranged and it should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
Please reconsider. |

A wooden delapidated stand and changing rooms replaced by a 200+ stand and superb changing facilites, a garden shed that was falling to bits replaced by a mutli function social club to be proud of.............. Oh boy did you lot help ruin this club!!!!
Had to check it wasnt April 1st. Having known the the people mentioned for a number of years, obviously 1 all my life, i was suprised to hear about there plans for taking over the football club. How sneaky of them to give all that time for free, and to put considerable amounts of cash out of there own pockets all as a cover for a sinister plot. The way they duped people into giving there time to do sponsered events. Going to meetings to get funds into the projects and the team, so underhand.
Now lets get serious. How can anyone call any of them. Theres, and a hell of a lot of other peoples commitment for no reward other than that of having a club and facilities to be proud of should be praised.
I am sure that during the Ashton match a village was very concerned about its missing idiot, and hopefully they returned safely and are under lock and key.
On behalve of Mitch and myself i can only thank the people mentioned in the letter and all of those who werent but had an equally significant part in turning a pipe dream into reallity.
Gra, Phil, Jay and Mark dont let 1 person put you off. Rise above it the same as you rose to the challenge of turning dreams to reallity.

Rant Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have only just read the forum and noticed this so before I go off on one
To the writer of the letter YOU ARE A CU*T AND IF YOU SEE ME AROUND AT ALL, I WILL BE PLEASED TO TELL YOU THAT TO YOUR FACE IF YOU HAVE THE BOTTLE TO OWN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway
What on earth would inspire someone to say these things, as Trav says I wasn't included in it (how I get away with that I do not know as I’m not exactly shy with expressing my feelings towards people so if there was anyone people would be sick of out of the lot of us it would be me)
Anyway, so I was not included on the letter but as someone who has spent many hours with Gra down at the ground on non MTFC match day’s running the bar out of the shed or the porta cabin for local cup finals, kids matches and functions I think it is a disgrace.
Gra, Jay, Mark, Phil and many others have spent a lot of time and money on helping get the club where it is today yes we have ran the social club but we have ran it very successfully before we took over there club was not generating any money for the football club, when we took over we started putting £1000’s into the club which considerably increased the playing budget. So yes I think everyone who helped to do that had a right to strut about, but no one really did, and if anyone on the committee has ruined the club they must have done it on the sly as, as Mick has pointed out a new stand and social club. What the, f**k if that’s ruining it, you need to help.
I have also not been around much (and "Not been missed" apparently, the issuer of these comments will get a personal face to face response when I see you, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten) this I have to admit is partly because, yes I did feel a bit disgruntled but we will not go into why and like many others I have had other commitments at the weekends. Like planning for my wedding and spending time with my future wife as I am often away during the weeks. But I feel very proud of where all our efforts have got this club and I have put myself out for the club on numerous occasions along with everyone else on the supporter’s club committee even putting my hard earned cash like Gra and others to pay for Ross Hannah's wages.
So anonymous arsehole, f**k right off and jump off man tor or something. You worthless piece of shit! _________________ Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm |

Didnt publish the letter to get comments like this, but it is much appreciated and i know phil and jay feel the same. Still cant believe someone would do it, but hey ho!!!
I am still easing my duties for a while but have decided not to pursue my push for a quick return on my £5,000 as i have realised clubs like Matlock dont have that sort of money around, especially when times are tough with no games being played.

I have only just read what is going on and although I do not post very often I felt I just had to say how disgusting it is that anyone could send such a letter anonymously as well - as a long time supporter and also someone who has done bits for the club in the past I know what hard work goes on and no-one is in it for the fame or glory - it is for the love of the club and without such commited enthusiasts Matlock would fold - I hope that as I dare not say what I really would like to and that not being a regular contributor that I can get over the point that the silent majority are appalled by this and don't let one idiot spoil ruin it for all - there are no winners and things like this move it to a very nasty and shameful place KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ALL OF YOU -you don't know what you've got till it's gone. |

Just wanted to rant after seeing this tonight - but dont think this person deserves that reaction!! and Ry does it so much better
Gra - thoughts go out to you, and all of my friends that this idiot has had the nerve to comment on!!
I dont get to matches often, but when I have, i have had the embarrassment of often watching and doing nothing, pint in hand, whilst you all ran around serving people, and serving the club helping them to achieve their dreams, never stopping. i remember the temp bar being broken to into at least twice, and yet you still rallied round and carried on!!
In a perfect world this idiot would be outed and i am sure removed from the club forever, but it is unlikely they will have the guts to come forward - simply because they, unlike you, are clearly not prepared to put themselves forward for doing anything that involves effort!!
So in the meantime you should hold your heads high, try and move on and remember all the friends around the club and around the other teams supporters who you can call friends and who appreciate what you have always done for the best of the club.

Another outsider's view here, this prat has named most of the people I think of when it comes to the best of Matlock Town FC.
I remember being envious of having so many motivated, decent people running things and rarely, for this level, all in their 20s and 30s so great for the club's future.
As a visiting supporter, I've seen your club transformed and I'm sure the names mentioned have had a huge influence on those changes.
I know next time I visit it'll be people like Rico, the Duffins, Geordie, Phil, Gra, Jay, Mark, Ry and co. I'll be looking out for.
Great fans and all the best to you, the very very least Gra deserves is a grovelling apology from this bitter individual. |

I'm a fairly new un, but having been to a few matches, i can comment how brilliant the volunteers are..
You guys have been so kind to me. and I havnt been for weeks, but i love meeting you volunteers, Steven on the Gate, who was head of Security is a ace guy and has a job during the week, all the Stewards are fanrastic.. The bloke who does the programme clearly loves it.. The man who does the raffle is a nice guy, I get in for a fiver cos im Disabled and they've all been great about it.. The Lady who works in the shop is one of the nicest people i've met in a long time..
I dont know who you are Gra, and i have probably met you. But the person who sent this is out of Order and doesnt understand how hard you all work FOR FREE to keep this club running..
Thank You for making Matlock such a nice place to be .. _________________ Im a 19 Year Old College Student.. Been watching football since i was 7, needed something to do on Weekends, thought i'd watch Town, hooked.. Now im going every week.. |

Not been on for ages (since Nathan moved) but was very disappointed to read this thread. All I can say is that the supporters club and the individuals cited gra, phil etc. in my experience were always an absolute credit to the club! Made my time watching Matlock very enjoyable indeed. Still look out for the results every sat.
Gra, tear up the letter. If a person can't sign it shouldn't even be read!
