My personal opinion is that if you are careful not to put any really large, mis-shaped pieces in the chute, you should have no problem. Like I said, my chute is 6" sq. and not tapered and I don't think I have any more than just ONE bridge in about 4 years of use. It is your own personal preference. Now, if you are planning on using briquettes in the cooker, then I would consider tapering, as these seem to cause the most problem. I just checked on the Stump forum and it appears that he has as much as a 2" taper on some of his builds. He doesn't say taper from what" to what" though. |

In early 2009, Stump started putting a 2" taper on the chutes, this is a change up from the 1" he had previously been building. So that said, I guess the tapered chute is now the way to go. |

I looked at one of the early 09 Prince models and 1" was about right if I remember correct.I think it would be easier to build a chute from scratch than to cut a tube to make it taper.I Guess you gotta work with what ya have but if you were to use Jims method of breaking up the chunks you would most likely be fine with the straight tube.As I stated in another thread I just dump in the lump as I am sorta lazy with that. |

Jim,I left the tops of the upright tubes open for that option.I am planning on covering it in time.I just ranout of time for now. There also will be a 40" high and 40" long box all of the way across the trailer in front of the steps.Work is getting busy and still helping my buddy with the farm. |

We are recuping from another KCBS contest and I am happy to report that she took another GC in some crappy weather. We competed in Menomonee Falls Wi .41 Teams .We had 8th in chicken,4th in ribs,3rd in Pork and another brisket win. I would like to thank Jim for keeping up this site where a great group of guys contributed to the thought process behind this cooker. |

Way to go Coz. I kind of enjoy running this forum. I read every post and I am really happy that there is no BS going on here. Easy to monitor. Good bunch of people here with much the same interests. |

Jim thats one of the reasons I really like this forum. You have some great thinkers who are not afraid to put it out there because you dont have the BS that goes on other places. |

Time for end of the year stats .& KCBS contests .6 top tens ,1 GC . I had hoped for a better year after taking one of the comp classes, but I think that for some reason I was more inconsistent then previous years. If the new cooker is to my liking this cooker will end her comp career and just sit in the yard for parties etc.She is a damn good cooker. |
