Well with the 3 shelves he will have about 2760 sq. in. of cooking space. So the cooking chamber must be 24"wide x 36" deep at the bottom shelf and then 24" wide x 24" deep at the top shelf. So with those numbers and my math, I figure it to be a cooking chamber of approx. 12,000 cu.in.. But that is just going by his shelf sizes and does not include the space below the bottom cooking shelf, which if it is 8" deep would add another approx. 7000 cu.in.. Making a total of about 19,000 cu.in. How's that Jet? A little closer?

Well you will have 5520 sq in of cooking space on the shelves which is just over 38 sq.ft. That is huge. You will go to the poor house to fill it with meat. Laughing Hey, just a minute, my stumper has 5 shelves 3'x 2' which is 30 sq.ft. and I haven't gone to the poor house yet, but I am cooking for customers who pay for the food.

Jim, when we started this project it was to be much smaller just to be able to do all comp meats in one cooker with some spare space and then my partner started getting cooking gigs for pulled pork so now we have way more work for the summer then I wanted.Have you ever filled yours with butts? If so how many was that?

No, I have never filled mine with butts, so I don't really know how many it will hold and cook evenly. You have to keep in mind that on the vertical cooker, you have to leave some space for the air flow, so I think a person should be able to do 5 per shelf, staggering their placement. That would make 25 butts @ 7# = 175# total. Just guessing. If I were able to put 6 per shelf, that would make 30 butts or about 210# total.
