A bit off topic I know but you have got to laugh.
HT
Eastwood 1 5 Gainsborough.
They should have built their house on firmer foundations.
Now 1 6.
Always used to like going to Gainsborough. I thought we were clubs with similar potential, it’s about time we caught them up.

In defence of Eastwood (not that they had much of one themselves tonight, ho hum) and having covered tonight's game, they don't have a manager and their 25-year-old captain is in charge of the team at the moment, so it's a bit tricky down there right now.
Though they weren't helped by ex-Derby player Mitch Hanson being sent off for the second time in three days, both for two footed tackles in the opening 15 minutes of the match!
A new owner is now in place though and hopefully, from their point of view at least and mine given my professional interests, a new manager will be in soon and things will perk up a bit.
Gainsborough are much better now Brian Little has gone and their budget is huge so I'd expect to see them push for promotion this year. |

No surprise that since the money man pulled out they've gone downhill. But he hasn't left them in debt or anything as far as I know so it seems the ex owner has been nothing but a blessing. They reached their highest pt in the pyramid ever during his regeime and got to the FA Cup 3rd Round. They'll live off those day for decades just like we have off the 1970s.
Trouble is the crowds they get are pretty poor now, so if they're gonna be self sufficient then they are likely to struggle. I'm sure they were hoping that many fans drawn in during their glory period might have stayed with them but looking at the attendences this doesn't seem to be the case. Very likely they will go down, before eventually stablising themselves at Northern Premier level or Nothern Premier 1st Division level in the long run |

A lot stayed away due to not being big fans of the guy who bought the club from Robert Yong and who then installed himself as manager along with Craig Armstrong.
Once they fell out and Armstrong left, everyone started boycotting them to try and force Brough out, which is eventually what happened.
So once the new owner, Steve Lynch, installs a new manager I'd hope the gates will push back up to around 400 as they were much of last year, but that could well depend on how things go on the pitch of course. |

Nope, he bought the club for a quid from Yong and despite having hardly any major coaching experience appointed himself along with his then friend Armstrong as boss. They did some coaching badges together and all seemed fine initially.
That was until Armstrong, who was the main man in terms of tactics, recruitment and so on, left the club after a pretty big falling out, at which point it became pretty clear to the fans that Brough was out of his depth not only on the football side but also in terms of running the club.
Various and often libellous allegations flew about as to what he was doing (none of which have been proved to have any substance incidentally) and eventually he found a buyer and off he went.
Nice enough guy to talk to but seemed to fall out with everyone it was possible to fall out with at the club.
Although they were apparently 'debt free' when Yong left, it seems that's not the case now, although it's not as bad as some make out.
The squad is actually pretty decent by and large but they need to find a manager who is happy to work on a fairly low budget and fancies the challenge of dragging them out of the relegation zone.
Never a dull moment down there nowadays! |

| I think the reason one or two of us are smiling is the arrogance some Eastwood fans like Boey for instance had when they were going well, calling some of us on here winkers, (have I spelled that right?), and pulling us to bits. We all knew it would go breasts up at some stage and it looks like we may be proven right. |

Correct. The very reason I started this post. |

To be honest Boey is one of a small minority of Eastwood fans who love to give it out to anyone given half a chance - they were even giving Paul Cox stick despite a record-breaking unbeaten run last year and all the other wonders he achieved there over the years.
Now he's doing well at Mansfield and their club is in a state they would probably kill for things to be back how they were before.
Boey also went in all guns blazing when Ilkeston Town were going/went under but now that they have a club that is a million times better run than Eastwood and with a lot more financial security, the egg is probably dripping off of his face a little.
And as for some of the personal attacks on Jamie Brough (largely led online by Boey who apparently never said anything to Brough's face), well a lot of that was also out of order whatever cause they may have felt they had.
The majority of their fans are a good bunch though. I was as peeved as anyone with the stuff Boey came out with on here and got my own abuse for it on their forum (and probably will again as he'll no doubt read this with him being as ubiquitous as he is stroppy), but I've learned he and others like him aren't worth bothering with.
Obviously from a professional point of view I want Eastwood to do well but can understand why people have a chuckle when it goes belly up. |

Relegated yesterday and soon to be joined by Blyth.
Hopefully Eastwood will only have a one year stay as they continue to plummet back whence they came.
Boey does not seem to have to much to say these days. |
