Hi, just wanna ask if any of you had hacked an opening between the MBR & BR1?

If yes, is there any requirement by HDB that the whole wall must be hacked down before building part of it back?

Or can just hack a portion of the wall to create an opening?

Any problem with sealing off the BR1 door also?

If hack, why not hack everything?
Anyway, I don't think it should be a problem as long as HDB approve and with any hacking, HDB must be notified.

I know for a fact that there should not be a problem sealing off doors as we already sealed off our Master Bedroom door..

You need to ask your contractor or ID to get a permit from HDB for the hacking. All walls except the bathrooms are hackable

appreciate yr advise. i know HDB permission must be sought before hacking the walls and also which walls are hackable.

but what i am trying to find out is that whether HDB allow us to just straight away hack an opening in the wall or need to hack away the whole wall and later make back the wall to have an opening?

You need to seek permission from HDB, together with supporting documents ie; (drawings) on what you want you want to do to the particular wall. Your ID should be in a better position to advice you on this.

you can hack a wall partially. what Galatian said applies, and your ID/contractor will know what to do.

I tried to hack my walls partially (make a hole), but HDB engineer insisted on hacking from the ceiling down before he will approve the permit which I eventually did. Hacked from ceiling to about 80cm from floor. Then had to patched up the hole with partition boarding. Mad My feel is you will need to discuss with the engineer assigned to your case, no point asking here.

Yup... I even move my MBR door frame further up to create more space in MBR so that I can hack a door way at the 2nd bedroom. btw, we had sealed up the 2nd BR orignal doorway...

I believe ur ID juz need to submit the application... Smile
