I finally got around to starting this project. It is not exactly a conventional drum, but I think it is close enough. It is 26 1/8" dia. It drawfs the 55 gallon drums.

I plan to used the charbroil ash cup and draft controls rather than installing any knife valves. Does anyone see any problems with this?
The only problem that I see with this approach is that the Guru will not have an attachment point if desired. I could add one valve for that option. I thought I would throw this out for everyone to kick around.

Off to a good start!

Sure glad to see someone else has a "garage" that can't be used to park a vehicle. I just keep telling my wife that it is a "shop" that just looks like a garage. That is going to be a very large WSM Jerry.

Looks good so far Jerry. It looks like the roller got a good fit for the bottom.

You could always use it for a hiding place Jerry. That thing is huge. Have you figured out how much you can get in there? Looks like you could have 3 shelves in there if you wanted.

Thanks Darrel and everyone for the kind words. Barb brought these home in 2008 and said look what I found for $40 each. Back then I had just finished our first drum and was thinking a big drum. Then I found out what new a barrel would cost so I started waiting for a find. Tom was slow so the rest is history now.
