Can I know what the cluster of 3 buildings near the MRT are? I thought the Guocoland project only consists of 2 buildings? Is the 3rd building part of another development? Maybe abit too much to ask, but are u able to label future buildings utilizing the bird's eye view? I don't know if there's a technical term for it, but the fonts will look like it's floating above the building. Mmm, kinda like in "Fringe" the sci fi series if you watch that.

Btw, noticed that Streetdirectory.com has got the location of Ps100 wrong.

Guocoland proposal was not confirmed, the 3 buildings was based on 10%hotel, 40 residential and 50% commercial that make up the 3 blocks.

The model i did was from google sketchup and is is 3d model. labelling could be done using ppt or photoshop. Will do a detail one when everything is locked down.

Some of the info from ura or streetdirectory are 'incorrect' probably the developer has not confirmed the designed. But to get the location wrong is no good. Laughing

That make this Guccoland complex among the tallest building in singapore. 30m taller than the nearby Capital tower.

Same pple who did Changi Airport Terminal 3?! Me LIKEY !! Just pray and hope they can leave me a gap to view the sea from my planter ! Sad
Mmm, nvrmind, I can still admire their masterpiece if the sea gets blocked out. Wonder if there'll be some michelin star restaurants who will open shop on the top floors. The view will be beyond fabulous !!!

Now, THIS is world class !

The city gallery at MBS shown a model of 3 towers for the Guocoland development.
Wander they get the info right. Right now they had shown P@D as a 4 towers building. Laughing

I guess it's more or less right. Looking at other SOM designed buildings, they seem to favor a staggered look or one massive reaching for the sky structure. So even if it's not outright 3 blocks, it should also take up the same amt of space as shown in the model, I guess? There's gonna be a park so means must keep some space clear and there's where I hope my gap of opportunity (seaview) will be ! Smile

dint know SOM did the terminal 3. But i like their designs.

my view is in the city especially in the CBD area, views will be blocked sooner or later due to the super expensive land price. Developer has to max their plot ratio that resulted in the high density and exploit all valuable asset such as views. Just look at poor ICON which will be surrounded by everyone else.

Yeah, poor Icon. No wonder psf still stuck at $1600-$1800 range. That's 30% cheaper than Altez. However, developer and the original buyers doubled their money liao. Probably sold & laughed all the way to the bank. No care about Icon. It's also going to be awkward for PS100 since surrounded on 3 sides. Buildings here seem too close to each other. Safe or not? Dun want another Hotel New World disaster ...

Actually Pinnacle units above 30th flr facing Sentosa dun have as much blockage in views besides the HDB blocks also. So not so bad. Similarly for 1A, 1B,1C city facing - those staying 30th floor and above have more breathing space.

Challenge calls for revolutionary designs from participants

A LONG-AWAITED contest with a US$1 million (S$1.25 million) top prize to design a new-age container port was unveiled yesterday.

The Next Generation Container Port Challenge, as the competition is called, had been flagged last October, sparking about 70 expressions of interest from more than 10 countries.

The heightened level of interest was apparent at the official launch yesterday at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore.

'This challenge dares participants to play the role of a port planner and submit revolutionary designs that can achieve a quantum leap in innovation, efficiency, productivity and sustainability for container ports,' said Captain M. Segar, assistant chief executive (operations) of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), a co-organiser alongside the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI).

He noted that the fundamental design of container ports have not changed much since they were introduced about 40 years ago.

But global container traffic has been growing at an annual rate of 5 per cent to 7 per cent over the past decade, leading some experts to estimate that this could lead to a doubling of global container trade within 10 to 15 years. Planners also have to take into account increasingly large container ships, economic volatility and environmental concerns.

'Given the long gestation period for port development, this means that ports have to start making plans today to accommodate tomorrow's growth in container volumes,' said Capt Segar.

Participants in the contest will have to consider several operating specifications, such as an annual handling capacity of at least 20 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), round-the-clock operations and a 90 per cent berth on arrival for ships.

Individuals, companies or research institutions, based here or overseas, can take part. Consortiums can also be formed.

The winning team will get a US$1 million cash prize and there can be up to six extra commendation awards of US$100,000.

Grants of $5 million have been set aside for deserving teams to pursue further research. The winning proposal will be announced at next year's Singapore Maritime Week.

Details of the contest can be found on the SMI's website.

Some observers said the port challenge could throw up ideas for a new port development in Tuas.

The land lease at the port terminals in Tanjong Pagar, Keppel and Pulau Brani expires in 2027, and the Government's Economic Strategies Committee has recommended the development of a new waterfront city in Tanjong Pagar after that.

It also suggested looking into a long-term proposal to develop a consolidated port in Tuas, with enough handling capacity to ensure ongoing competitiveness.

One likely entrant is Halcrow, a London-based infrastructure consultant that is a unit of conglomerate CH2M Hill.

Mr Julian Johanson-Brown, director of ports and maritime at Halcrow, flew into Singapore just to attend the official launch.

'When I first saw the challenge in London, I just couldn't stop thinking about it,' he said. 'You get caught in the day job, you think about providing solutions for your current clients, and there's often little time to really explore this kind of opportunity.'

Yesterday also marked the official end of the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), although some events will continue into this weekend.

About 40,000 participants have taken part in the 25 events, including conferences, networking and public outreach sessions, up from last year's 30,000 participants.

'A good range of issues has been discussed at the dialogue sessions and conferences, further resonating Singapore's importance and growth as a major maritime thought capital,' said MPA chief executive Lam Yi Young.

Mr Patrick Phoon, president of the Singapore Shipping Association, said that SMW is 'fast gaining worldwide recognition of being a bustling hive of maritime activities' and 'delegates from far and wide travel here just to be a part of it'.

URA and Npark has proposed Green Belt connection between Pearl Hill City Park and Tanjong Pagar MRT concourse.

In order to be in line with future Hotel promenade, Tanjong Pagar Hawker and its auxiliary building need to re-work out the pedestrian path from Yan Kit road to Tanjong Pagar Road. Currently it was a mess.

External escalator installed. Need lots of works for external wrapped up.
Maybe another 2 more months since interior could not be start before exterior done.

for $360 million. The price
works out to about $1,420 psf

the site if it does not exceed
this GFA.
Tower 15 - which incorporates
Klapsons The Boutique Hotel
on the second to fourth levels
- is on land area of 39,336.67
sq ft. Offices are on the fifth
level and upwards. Fragrance
is said to be buying the
property from a private
vehicle controlled by the Lee
family that controls listed Ezra
Holdings.
Fragrance is exploring various
development possibilities,
including a commercial
development with retail shops
and offices or an integrated
development with retail shops,
offices and residential units.
The deal is said to have been
sealed by a private treaty
brokered by DTZ.

60年代几乎整条路都是娼寮的,如今仅剩下一间妓院,有传半年后就要关门!

牛车水欧南园地铁站附近的恭锡路,从60年代起就是著名红灯区,从前几乎整条路都是青楼,如今酒廊、精品酒店和办公室林立,娼寮只剩一间。

有附近的商家告诉《联合晚报》,听说妓院将在半年后关门大吉,走进历史,据说是为了重新发展,以及业主要加租等原因。
