It depends on where all the grease is going to drip out of them.

How heavy is your door going to be? These are "heavy duty". If you already have them or they are free I would say use them. If you are looking to buy, I think I would look around some more.

For $4.99 there cheep hinges so who cares if there a little big and you don't use enough grese to bother anything or at least you shouldent Wink good find I would snap them up. You don't have to use any grese if you don't want to they will still work great. Rolling Eyes Wink

They look pretty good to me. Misalignment shouldn't be any problem with those either. As far as being too heavy, I don't think I would worry about that. They appear to be a substantial weld on hinge. As Barry said, go for it.

Bear in mind that the higher the pivot point is above the door surface, the heavier the door will feel. It may not mean much in your case. On some pits I have built it would.
They look good and well made. You can't build one for 5 bucks.

These look good. I'd like to hinge on my ash door, but need it good and sloppy so that the main positioning is by the latches. I don't want the hinge to interfer with the clamping.

Those are some pretty nice hinges. Where are you getting them?

I have been buying from these people. You might want to check these out as well.

Good luck with your project!

Look stout enough to hold about any door. Where did you find them?

I used those as well and was able to purchase them at one of the welder supply stores.

Seen them on Ebay. I won bid and they let me purchase multiple at winning bid.
Thanks for the link. I buy hinges like that at a steel place that sells tons of wrought iron fence parts. was having hard time figuring out how to incorporate them with sealing strip welded on. Plus I plan on temporarily puttong 1/2" rod through bolt holes to align easier.

You can buy a piece of 1/2" ID tube and saw it up into 1" pieces and buy some 1/2" cold-rolled and mushroom one end and slip it through as many pieces as you want and weld alternate pieces if you get my drift, and then take a heat and mushroom the other end. Those are cheaper than $5, strong too.
