Well, after years of thinking about building a wood burning pizza oven I finally decided to build one this summer. After almost 5 months it was complete enough to cook my first pizzas. Here are a couple of photos of the final product and the first pizza. The pizzas we cooked were awesome. Need to learn about the oven a little more but I can see this oven is going to be a lot of fun.

Nice job Doug. How long does it take to get up to temp? When is the PBBQA fall supper going to be held? I suppose you are going to bake bread and roast meat in there too? I hope you took a bunch of "build" pictures to share with us.

Doug that is really nice! There was a shown that aired here in the states -BBC America. Coooking with Jamie or something like that? He cooked all sorts of things in an outdoor oven just like yours or at least similar. I was always surprised when he called it BBQ. Was a great show! You will get a lot of use from it.

I do hope to use this for meat and bread as well.

Thanks for sharing Doug. Would that happen to be a shot of JD on the hearth in the last picture?

There are approximately 240 fire bricks in the oven chamber and hearth.

It just so happens to be a shot of Captain Morgan spiced rum. Kind of a celebration drink for the first fire.

I have only used it once so far this winter, and it worked great. Each time I use it, it seems to be getting better. Just been too cold here. Not that the oven wouldn't work, I am just much of a whimp to go outside to cook. Hopefully get to use it in the next week or two.
