Yes, need for the bedsheets. Can't really hang large items in the small space.

My unit wind is good in the yard.. But sometimes not enough space to hang, so bought a rack to dry out in the living room.

From my experience (I'm been doing my own laundry since around P4) when it comes to bedsheet, blankets, it is wiser to have a dryer on standby.

When I was living with my in-laws, my hubby and I would go to those NTUC chalets in Pasir Ris (as we lived in Tampines) and use the coin dryers for our bedding. I know it's a little duh but there are like 8 people in the household and we never have space to dry our clothes.

It doesn't matter where you live actually. It is how much space you have to dry them. If you don't mind having them in the living room for up to 5 days, then perhaps you can skip the dryer. Plus when it comes to year end when we rarely have sun, at least you have the dryer.

AND... get the gas dryer, cheaper. I regret a bit now getting the electric one as it uses quite a bit of electricity.

Yes to the dryer. Mine's a corner unit, but the yard is simply insufficient to hang all the bedsheets/mattress protectors etc. I couldn't get the gas dryer, becos of the wind. Agree with Fia on the consumption of electric dryers too. You may want to get someone from City Gas to survey your unit to see if you can get it fixed up.

Citygas installer told me gas dryer doesn't effect by the wind, but gas water heater does.
I think gas dryer also faster, normally need around 30 mins or less to dry 4 kgs cloth.

i do not see a need to put a dryer in my yard as it is very windy. In my opinon, the corner units are far much better than the middle unit.

Fia point is pretty valid if you wash/dry your clothes very often. Any machinary will die faster if you use it very often or longer duration.
Example:
1) LCD TV backlight with 100,000 or 60,000 hours life-cycle estimation
2) Hard disk with MTBF (mean time before failure) of 50,000 hrs?

All depends on your washing/drying pattern and the wind condition/turn-over rate of your wardrobe (how often you need to wear the same clothes per wash?).

If it's for ocassional drying (maybe washing of clothes 3x a week and drying 1x a week or less) it should be fine to own a 2-in-1 as it's just 10-15% addtional load.
