Arising from the recent residents' dialogue with our MP Ms Indranee Rajah, some residents opined that it would be good to remove the basketball court as it causes them great disturbances i.e. noise pollution, littering & etc. The Pinnacle RC would like to get the views of the residents on this matter.

Don't think removing basketball court is the best solution.
Currently the lighting only switch off at 10pm, maybe can consider to change to 9pm instead.
My unit also facing basketball court, I have no problem with the noise.

Unless we want to change the basketball court for better use.
But I'm still thinking basketball court is the best option.
As for badminton or other games not very visible as quite windy most of the time.

My unit faces the basketball court too and I have no problems with the noise.
At least it gives the residents/students/kids one more open space to play!

I think I have bigger issues with the construction noise... i guess i cannot poll to have that done away with right? Wink

I just had a wake there recently, so been staying next to the basket ball court for a while, notice that most of the people playing basket ball that are actually from across the street. I may be wrong as I only observed for a few days.

I am of the same opinion, I noticed that too. Mostly Pinoys and Chinese. As long as they clean up after use is fine imo. If they don't, no one can force them too. Cannot comment on the noise as not facing the court.

yupz! had bought a mini-basketball last month as promised my daughty to teach her some MJ slam dunk move but unfortunately it was always occupied by competitive night games by the same groups for almost every night.
Certainly my girls and i were disappointed everytime we were not able to use the court but that doesn't mean we wish it to be gone.

frankly, when i first read this poll ... i too was also going ... "SERIOUSLY!" ... I can't help thinking that the suggestion in removal of the basketball court was rather lame ... just bcos it produce noise; isn't it expected to be when it was projected in the plan during the launch of pinnacle?

... and I fear that if such poll is encourage ... what would be next to poll to go? ... The "NOISY" playground / pyramid rope climb / exercise sector / pets / park / traffic / how abt noisy neighbours!!! ... "seriously!" ... and if I may be unkind ... I would poll to get rid of the under utilize "mazy poles heritage thingy" for some better use or otherwise weld up some hooks and such to "tiow chiao"; just like the good old tiong bahru chirpy days but then again it may be a bad idea in encouraging bird flu or mental up some birds chirping migraine patients!

I think "Noise" will always be parts and parcels of life, living in the HDB ... just have to find ways to curb it ... kudos to those who face the court and stood up to the poll ... I think the idea of shortening the "competitive game" hrs to 8pm or 9pm is a great idea ... as such, i can slam dunk til 10pm for my daughty to let them have something to cheer abt up.

This is an example of "what was here and now is gone!" due to certain peculiar opinion & decision ... so be careful what you wish for!

Some people are that selfish...

Because of noise from the basketball court, remove it, they suggest.

Loud zooming cars along Cantonment road in the middle of the night?
Poll: Remove Cantonment Road as well?

Seriously, have more understanding for others. We are living in a close knitted environment.

I kind of miss the tables and chairs on the 50th SB that were removed. Just because of some "big shot" who doesn't reside here..

Can we petition to bring the stone tables and chairs back?

Yup, I really missed the tables and chairs on the 50th SB between 1F and 1G. when I first saw it, fell in love with it as it gave me thoughts of bringing my lappy up, having some chess or board games with neighbours, Having simple chitchats, etc. But its gone.

Yes yes. petition.. on..

Your last statement I like, the tables and chairs were a great place to chill out on the 50th sky bridge at night.

Unless you have better usage for that space, why waste money again to remove the basketball court? Heck, I don't even play basketball but I still vote no. Confused

I'm not affected by the basket ball court, but just want to agree that it was quite retarded to remove the chairs and tables from level 50 skybridge.

There is another basketball court directly behind Pinnacle, what is the point of having 2 in the same location? I vote to get rid of it and the heritage garden and to do something else useful with that space.

The "Mazy" heritage thing underwent 2 (expensive?) plastic surgeries already, yet still not recovered. Like everyone said, there should be better use of that area. Perhaps a greenhouse or extension of playground facilities for children. Even a sheltered children's only mini basketball court or badminton court would be great.

Having memorials to the past is important but not when it's not working don't you all agree? It was heartening to see a bunch of under 10 old yrs running ard the estate giggling one saturday morning and that is becoming an uncommon sight these days. Alot of them rather surf their ipads or FB... but then I thought, what else can these 10 year olds do on the estate? Basketball courts mostly in use... no sandy playground for them build drenches or play gor li(marbles). Dunno if they know how to burn a trail of ants or not?? Hai, so much fun all missed out. They should at least have their corner near their own homes to "conduct their fun" and grow their memories of home.

So, NO. I don't agree to removing any space or area that can create some sense of community bonding just because it's noisy. Children are noisy also. Remove them ar?

You never know what they are thinking of... If they got the power to remove the children creating the noise, they would.. Those people are one of a kind. The selfish inconsiderate kind..

Funny to even read about this suggestion. I support the idea to bring forward the closing/silence timing to 9pm. I am surprised that no one from Block 1C has complained about the noise from the obstacle playground. They have this poles where kids could climb, which makes digital noises like some spacegun bullets (Chiu chiu chiu chiu). In the day, I could hear it even from 2 blocks away and when it's night at 1am, it is even much more audible. No complaints about it but if you are comparing it to the noise from the basketball, I would say the basketball court is nothing.
