The KL International AV Show 2010 will mark the 10th year that this annual AV Showcase for the Malaysian AV Industry has been held at the J.W. Marriot Hotel. At the same time it is now 17 years since the organizers brought in the first AV Show in 1994. This year also mark the 13th anniversary of our successful promotional association with the New Straits Times.
Every year the KL International AV Show serves as a national platform to the introduction of either new AV technologies or the maturation of others. This year is no different with the eventual introduction of high definition broadcast by Astro. Astro Byond as it is known has been long anticipated but as the saying goes, better late than never. While high definition programmes are not new, Astro Byond will finally herald in the true digital age in broadcast. It will also spur the full and final transition from the old analogue CRT TV to digital widescreen versions such as the LCD or plasma TV.
We expect, by the time of the Show, better and more affordable BluRay Disc players as well as higher specced and larger LCD and plasma TVs at a far more competitive price.visitor will also encounter higher resolution home theatre projectors at prices unheard of just a year ago. There will also be home theatre receivers, all equipped with HDMI version 1.3 inputs at much lower entre level prices.
It is our strong belief that the AV industry on the whole will bond together to present a more concerted Show to win over the confidence of visiting consumers. In the 16 years of organising shows for the AV Industry this year will offer the most promising opportunities as we adapt to the
challenges of meeting a new consumer need for more affordable and improved digital flatscreen TVs. This demand is expected to extend to suitable sound systems to match the new displays.
Sound systems in either 2 channel or multichannel flavour has always been the other main feature of the Show along side display systems. This year visitor will see more sophisticated yet affordable home theatre audio components alongside stereo audiophile ones for the ardent music lover.
In a nutshell, visitor to the KL International AV Show 2010 can expect a Show that is much more vibrant then those of the previous years.
They should expect to see a better showcasing of new technologies and a better and more affordable range of AV products. They can also expect to learn and perhaps better understand the high definition possibilities that now abound in the AV Industry. As long as there exist a common
love for music and movies the AV Industry will continue to grow and prosper. We just have to work harder to make sure it does.
