A question for anyone who has swapped out the standard control unit for the digital. How hard is it to do yourself? I don't imagine it's really difficult but I'd like an idea of what it takes. Thanks.

The instructions were really cryptic but it didn't take too long. You have to unscrew the controller from the hopper and pull the wire connectors apart. You have to install a probe inside the cooking chamber, but the holes are pre-drilled so that's easy.

I think the hardest part was getting at the wires behind the controller. You have to either lie down on your back under the grill or lay it down on the ground.
It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

just unplu the old one and match the color coded wires I believe. 2 screws to take out and about 3 sets of wires to rehook.

After a search this is exactly what I'm looking to do with the new lil tex I just picked up. Can someone point me in the direction of where to purchase a controller for this? I looked on the Traeger web site but found nothing and sent an email with no word back. I'm in Saskatoon so something local would be great, but not necessary.

Thanks!

Check out pelletgrills.com ( I think that's it, right fellas?) based near Portland and great prices.

They were having recent order fulfillment issues now due to the sudden illness of a key staff member but they'l help you for sure.

Thanks guys,

I sent the folks at Premium an email. I've been in that store a few times as of late as I've been pondering the purchase of a traeger. I await their response.

Rob, might this http://pelletgrilloutlet.com/inc/sdetail/9180l be the one you mentioned? I can't seem to find anything at pelletgrills.

Thanks,

Keith
