I actually can't think of a favorite book, cause I've read a bunch of great ones. My favorite authors would have to be Tracy Hickman, Margaret Weis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis created the awesome Dragonlance series. I also just finished the second book of Tracy and Laura Hickman's new series (well, there's two out right now, I don't know how many there will be in total), Mystic Quest. The first one is called Mystic Warrior, and both are great books. And of course, J.R.R. Tolkien created the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I've also read the Silmarillion and am currently reading The Shaping of Middle-Earth: The Quenta, The Ambarkanta, and The Annals.

So...what are your favorite books and authors?

i'm with you on both of those. i can never seem to have enough dragonlance books, because the more you read, the more of the plot you know, and to complete the never-ending plots, you must get more books. for example, afterreading the Second Generation, i can start reading about five other books to find out what happenes to Palin, Tanin, Sturm, Steel, Gil, and Raistlin's Daughter.

Yes, I finished the Second Generation about a week or two ago. I already know about pretty much all of those you mentioned, cause I read some stuff on the internet about the War of Souls (yes, I was impatient).

That's because Dragonlance is kind of open source-ish (excuse my use of the term), in that many authors can write a story about whatever part of Dragonlance they feel like, though usually they have to contribute to some upcoming series.

yeah, Lemony Snickett is a great author, and his books are suspenseful and funny. i own the whole series (so far).

also, another one of my favorite books is 'The Alphabet of Manliness' by Maddox. this book is cynically funny and has many truths in it. i may quote it some time on the forum.

Yeah, I just finished the Series of Unfortunate Events, and it left TONS of questions unanswered! But it was still a good book. The Beatrice Letters contains many hints to those questions though, as does Lemoney Snicket: the Unauthorised Autobiography.
As for my favorite books and authors, I'd have to say David and Leigh Eddings are my favorite authors, and thier series The Belgariad and its following series, The Mallorean are wonderful books that are written beautifly. Belgarath comes from these.
I have to say Dragonlance is a great series as well. I just finished the War of Souls and Dragons of the Dwarven Deepths, and they were great (though not as good as the origanal trilogy).
Well, I think I've taken up enough space for now.

Dragons of the Dwaven Deepths is ok, but not nearly as good as the main series. But the last book in the Lost Chronicles, Dragons of the Hourglass Mage, sounds really good.

ZOMG YOU READ GARTH NIX!?!?!?!?!?!?!?? WHICH ONES!!!!! NIX=GREAT AUTHOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Breathes into paper bag* Okay, on a calmer note.... which series? Keys? or did you read the totally awesome, amazing, stupedous, if a little short, SEVENTH TOWER! I haven't really started the Keys yet, just read the first 6 chapters or so in Monday. It looks pretty good.
Also, Dwarven Depths was just as good as the others from a reader's standpoint. From a fan's though, nothing beats the chronicles. Except maybe Hourglass Mage. Oh, and I cannot stop raving about the Dark Discple..... ITS SO FUGGIN GREAT!!!! THE CLIMAX AT THE END WILL SEND YOU REELING OVER THE CLIFF OF "ZOMG WHY THE f**k DID THEY PUT SUCH A GINORMUS CLIFFHANGER THAT IS SO FRIGGEN GOOD"ness.
In case you were wondering, it takes place right after the War of Souls. The only series in between is the Minotaur Wars Triology. MWT is unrelated however. Its good, and bloody. In fact the titles are... "Night of Blood," "Tides of Blood," and "Empire of Blood." Very bloody. The Dark Discple starts with "Amber and Ashes. Next up is Amber and Iron. The last book, which is yet to be released, is Amber and Blood. Anyone who has read the War of Souls knows what the "Amber" part means..... The final will release after Dragons of the Highlord Skies which is next in the Dark Chronicles. This is confirmed because I asked Margaret Weis herself about it! She is currently working Highlord Skies, then she will finish the Dark Disciple. Then, unless something comes up, she will do the most awesomest thang 'ver. DRAGONS OF THE HOURGLASS MAGE!!! So, ya.

I've never read Harry Potter, don't plan to >.>
I have to read another book to finish my reading requirement, and I chose For Whom the Bell Tolls, by Ernest Hemingway. It is pretty good so far (page 348 and counting, there's 495), and the action's starting to really unfold. I can see why Hemingway is as famed as he is. It tells a good story with deep meanings and stuff.
I dunno how I'm gonna get ahold of Dragons of a Vanished Moon...it's not in my local library, though it's in the library chain, of course...

Read Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger. That's quite possibly the best book ever written.

<.< Mr. Hartley, when he approved my book, said it was one of the greatest books ever written.
Oh yeah, I thought Mr. Hartley said that he knew the author of Catcher in the Rye or something.

Harry Potter is a good series, but you have to be into it to really enjoy it.
Also, you can probably order Dragons of a Vanished Moon (War of Souls rocks by the way) at Barnes and Noble. If you don't want to by it, though, then your probably out of luck unless someone loans it to you.
Also a great book, though everyone has probably read it already, is ENDERS GAME. Great, great, great book.
